Craighall House is a small, personally run guesthouse that is centrally located to Sandton, Rosebank, Melrose Arch and is just a short drive from Randburg and the Johannesburg CBD. Our staff will welcome you with exceptional courtesy and personal service. The recently re-furbished en-suite individual rooms are comfortable and charmingly decorated with attention to detail.

Our regular clients include tourists’ over-nighting on their way to or from safari lodges, solo travellers, recuperating medical patients, business travellers and consultants staying for extended periods. Many delegates attending conferences at Hackle Brook and the Sandton Convention Centre choose to stay at Craighall House. Our free and FAST internet is available in all the rooms. All rooms are furnished with a flat screen TV with DSTV and built in DVD. There is a selection of DVD’s available in the library for our guests to use.

We appreciate that our guest’s time is precious so we offer the services of an on-site hair and beauty salon with accommodating hours for guest house clients. Pre-booking is essential.

Our Fresh coffee shop provides delicious teas, coffees, cakes, light breakfasts and lunches. The venue lends itself to one on one business meetings in the garden or on the patio. Breakfast can be enjoyed on the sunny garden patio or in front of the fire on cold days. Our fruit salad is freshly made using only in-season fresh fruit and is served with a delicious full English breakfast. You will also find interesting artifacts gathered by the owner, Martina, and her family from the various countries that they have travelled too over the years.

Personalized day tours and transfers to sports venues, shopping malls, or a visit to casinos, game reserves and other places of interest throughout the city can be booked for you with reputable and cost effective tour and taxi operators.

Surrounding attractions

We are located off of Jan Smuts Avenue, which offers easy access to the Valley Shopping Centre with Postnet, Clicks, Woolworths and a bottle store. Planet Fitness Gym is a block away in the Pick n Pay centre in Jan Smuts Avenue. Hyde Park Shopping Centre, which offers a wonderful selection of restaurants and clothing boutiques, is situated 5 minutes up Jan Smuts Avenue. We are a ten minute drive from the Rosebank Mall if you would like to take in a movie, a light snack or even a quick coffee. The Everard Read Gallery (Circa on Jellicoe), which exhibits various fine art works and sculptures, is just a short distance away. Sandton City which offers an abundant selection of stores with exclusive brands of clothing and shoes, home décor, restaurants and movies is also only a ten minute drive away.

A lovely outing would include stopping off at Moyo Restaurant at Johannesburg's Zoo Lake to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and an African Buffet Feast. A short drive by car can take you to our well-known 4th Avenue in Parkhurst which boasts a selection of popular sidewalk restaurants like Georges on 4th, Melissa’s, Vovo Telo, Espresso Cafe & Bistro and many more. Take a stroll down 4th Avenue and enjoy the wide variety of quaint little shops.

Staying in Johannesburg on business? We are conveniently located to the Gautrain Station; the train will bring you in from the airport in a matter of 15 minutes. The Sandton Convention Centre is five to ten minutes drive from Craighall House. We are situated in the most central suburb of Johannesburg with easy access to the Gautrain stop off points in West Street (off Rivonia Road) and Rosebank (off Oxford Road). Attending a conference or function at Hackle Brooke on Conrad Drive is less than a five minute drive away.

Our six individual and uniquely styled en-suite double rooms with bath and separate shower each have their own garden entrance from the patio. All rooms have a mini kitchen for self-catering purposes containing a microwave and fridge, plates and cutlery for 2 persons.

Secure off-street parking is provided for all guests. All rooms are furnished with a flat screen TV with DSTV and a built in DVD, free and FAST wireless internet connection, tea tray, hair dryer, gowns, fan and underfloor heating.
